Rescheduling Returned Payments

Kris Kehler May 08, 2010

Clients payments are checked twice daily at 5AM CST and 12:30PM CST for returns due to Insufficient Funds, Invalid Account Numbers and more. See ACH Return Codes for a complete list of payment return descriptions.

Payment returns include the date of the return and the reason. This can take up to 5 business days to get return information depending on the reporting bank. Common return reasons include: Insufficient Funds, Unable To Locate Account, Invalid Account Number, Payment Stopped.

You can be notified automatically of payment returns via an Email Trigger.

The proper way to reschedule a returned payment is to edit the returned payment transaction from the Enrollment Details or Accounting Report.

1.) Choose a new date for the payment.
2.) Select the action "Reschedule Payment"
3.) Click the "Save" button

This will automatically reschedule the appropriate fee disbursements based on the new transaction date.

Typically, the clients payments become paused when a return occurs. This prevents the schedule from continuing without human intervention to correct the problem.

After rescheduling the payment you will need to resume client payments by pressing the "Resume Payments" link located in the Client Enrollment Details.
